setcom Quality Assurance
What is Quality Assurance?
Quality Assurance (QA) is a method for verifying that the quality and integrity of the services and practices provided merit the confidence of the clients, the staff, and the general public.
setcom strives to ensure that our customers get the best possible product. This is why at setcom, we perform our own QA program before sending our products to our customers.
The setcom Quality Assurance Program requires verification of both software and hardware during each phase of its development life cycle. Such actions are called Software Verification and Validation (SVV) in a Software Verification and Validation Plan (SVVP).
How does it work?
setcom officially re-validates its test systems for GCF / PTCRB, or for an operator accreditation, every time hardware or software changes, impacts the configuration of released conformance testing software. This strict procedure drives the ultimate quality of our test solutions.
System testing is performed on a complete integrated system by authorised test labs, to check if the system complies with its specified requirements. setcom performs independence system testing which avoids repeating design errors in the test design. This independence testing takes priority at the final level to obtain a credible assessment of quality.
For test cases, we stress that every test case is tried on various compatible User Equipments (UEs) for a comprehensive 72-hour testing before it is released to a Release Candidate. This will then become a release for validation.
Testing is performed at the development stage in the R&D department, after which the project leader will hand over the development version to the independent testing department.
An important component of setcom’s product development cycle is the Software Configuration Management (SCM) where setcom uses Control / Concurrent Version System (CVS). It keeps track of all the work and changes in source files and allows several developers to work together.
setcom understands the fact that test solutions require short, efficient development life cycles. Development based on traditional system lifecycles can lead to results that are obsolete shortly after completion, since standards evolve very fast and our customer time-to-market critical driven projects require quality test tools based on tomorrow's standards. Our products mitigate this risk and helps our customers realise a rapid return on their technology investment. Our approach to test software development ensures continuity, communication, and accountability throughout the planning, design, integration, development, quality assurance, and operational phases of each project's lifecycle.
