Network Protection

Today the majority of mobile users have shifted from “call and text only” mobiles to devices with continuous internet connectivity via multiple applications such as browsing, email, streaming or Skype just to mention few. This shift puts the network operator under pressure to provide fast and stable internet connectivity with no interruptions and delays. However, certain devices have proven to cause large amount of unnecessary data traffic by the application, or protocols used by certain applications due to one simple reason; they are developed originally for wired internet environment where periodic traffic occurrence and amount of surplus payload plays no role. A Lot still has to be done to optimise those devices designed for wireless usage, where only the data required by the customer should be transmitted over the air and spectrum resources.

setcom test suite for network protection covers the most important test scenarios to benchmark the device, providing an excellent means to detect how much data is transmitted over the air to achieve wanted customer experience and pointing out if the device includes any chatty and network loading applications.

Test example:

  • DNS protocol and retransmission
  • Detection of non-required periodic data transmissions
  • Vanity URLs
  • Application soak testing
  • Android specific tests
  • APN testing
